Michel O'Neill, Ph.D.

Dr. Michel O'Neill, Professor Emeritus, University of Laval, Quebec, Canada.

 

From 1981 to 2011 Dr. Michel was working as a research professor at the Faculty of Nursing in the university of Lavalland now offers his services as a consultant and trainer. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Boston University and has an extensive experience in various fields, such as community / public health / health population. Over the past 40 years, Dr. Michel has worked as teacher, researcher, consultant and activist. His research interests revolve around history, socio-political aspects of public health and health promotion. He has extensively taught, written, published and spoken on these topics in Quebec, Canada and internationally.

 

In 2011 Dr. O’Neill received two major awards for his life-long scientific career, his outstanding contribution to the advancement of research and education in population health and his international status : the «Prix du Chercheur émérite » from the  Réseau de recherche en santé des populations du Québec (RRSPQ) and the «Certificat du mérite», from the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA).
